A poem… Who Am I?

This is a poem I wrote in Spring 2021…

I am bridge
Translator of sorts
Connector
Between two worlds

It’s hard being
Between two places
Never fully in one
Or the other

I long to walk
on the water
Swim deep
From shore to shore

Yet here I stay…

I am bridge

“Yet here I stay… I am bridge”

….

It’s hard being the one
To take the first step

To trust again
After being hurt, betrayed
By those I love
By strangers
By myself

And yet

I take the first step

My words
my speech
Create worlds
new realities

Majestic trees
flowing rivers
purest lakes
gentle places to rest

I take the first step

“And yet… I take the first step”

….

I allow myself to reconnect
To God, to Grace, to Knowing
that No One is perfect

To Understanding
that No One is worthy
except God Alone

my Eyes turn toward heaven
my Heart turns toward heaven

I Am Bridge

To Wonder
Curiosity
Imagination

“I allow myself to reconnect… to wonder, curiosity, imagination”

Come with me
Take the first step
I am here
To walk beside
On this road less travelled

Let me be
a bridge
To the place
where hope is found
Until you find
This hope, yourself

When you trust in God
with all your heart
Step
by step
by step

“Come with me, take the first step…”

The Benefit of Movement in Nature…

I’m curious…what does your self-care look like for the coming week?

May I suggest gentle walking at a nearby lake or nature preserve?

White Rock Lake ~ Foggy Afternoon ~ @nursehealingadvocate

Walking is not only good for your muscles, heart, and lungs;

but it is also very good for the soul…

especially if you walk somewhere you experience wonder and beauty!

I’m also curious…do you notice a difference in your energy levels when you walk or jog in nature vs. exercise at the gym?

What differences do you notice physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually?

Test it out this week, and I would love to hear and/or see what you discover. Tag me in your walking and nature photos:

The benefits of bare feet and bare soil…

🪴 Wednesday Wellness Tip!

Better than caffeine…
Bare feet and bare soil
Time outside in the sun
Reconnecting with the earth
is good for the soul

🌍Our planet holds an incredible amount of energy. Spending time barefoot on the earth is a grounding technique I use to settle anxious energy or elevate a depressed mood.

✨ There are many possible health benefits of reconnecting with nature, including but not limited to….

-reduced stress and anxiety
-relief from chronic pain
-improved sleep
-better regulated nervous and endocrine systems
-enhanced mental focus
-strengthened immune system
-heightened creativity
-lighter and/or elevated mood
relaxation and calm
-more balanced energy levels

Bare feet and bare soil are good for the soul. @nursehealingadvocate

☀️ I love to go outside everyday for at least 20-30 minutes. After I go for a jog or a bike ride, I take off my shoes and socks. I choose to walk barefoot as I water the plants in my garden.

I spend time in awareness of the beauty around me, using all my senses to breathe it in. I am able to set aside my worries and focus on my connection to the earth and to God.

🥰 I use this outside time to let go of the stories in my head, to connect to the present moment, and focus on gratitude for the beauty around me. I thank God for the the gift it is to live on this beautiful earth.

Warmly,
Ruth Renee RN

I’m curious… how will you reconnect with nature today, and how will it benefit you most?
